The Westmoreland County Commissioners will hold a public meeting at the Derry Township Municipal Building at 6pm on Monday, August 13 to garner public opinion on how the county should spend money collected through Marcellus Shale impact fees.
There are approximately 191 wells in Westmoreland County and the impact fees are expected to bring in between $2million to $3 million.
Pennsylvania state legislators have authorized 13 categories that impact fees could be used for including construction of roadways, bridges and water systems; public safety; environmental programs; tax reductions; housing projects; records management; social services; judicial services; deposit into the county's capital reserve funds; career and technical centers; and local planning initiatives.
